Default **New** Add a switch character button.

I switch through ym chars alot, be it looking for items or just switching to the profession needed for a gvg or whatever that I have already rolled.

Personally, it becomes a hastle when I am required to re-enter my password everytime Iwish to change chars. I think ANet should implement a type of "Switch Characters" option instead of just logging off, then signing back in.

Just something me and the guildies have talked about, just looking to see what everyone else thinks, so, what you think?

Ah, sorry, but search is not what it used to be...imo

I am sure they could find a way to do it though? Maybe I am wrong, not great with computers in the first place. But, I really would like it!

I can't believe they didn't have this 1st thing. Annoys me when I have a item on such and such character and have to put it in storage and log in again to get into other character to take the item.

Its not needed, but makes it a little quicker.

Put "-password yourpassword" without quotes in your guild wars shortcut, then when you press F12 it auto logs in

there are some security issues with allowing this feature, I can't remember what they were. Something about, if your hacked into mid-game, the person can only take items from that single character only.

it is not about being hacked, as much as it is about internet cafe's. If you were playing at an internet cafe and forgot to log off, all that they could do to you is empty the one character's invintory and storage. They would not be able to get to the rest of your characters or delete any characters. Nor could they do anything to your account such as change region, mess with keys, change email and password, etc.

It doesn't protect you from being hacked, because in that case, they have your email and password, so they can relog-in as much as they like, change passwords, etc.

this works beautifully. And if I'm not mistaken, it can help prevent keyloggers from stealing your info since you dont' have to type in your password. Though I could be wrong. (feel free to correct me if I am)

i thikn the reason why we need to log off is due to the server loading up the character information, so a switch char wudnt be as effective loading up a char then a login and log out

As far as keyloggers, no, they can't get your password if you use the -password switch. However, using this switch bypasses the entire reason for having to completely log out to switch characters. Perhaps if they put an option in the game itself, in the area where you manage access keys and such, to enable fast character switching. That way, if you're on a private computer, you know you won't have to worry about the security feature, and can switch without disconnecting to the server. And if you're at an internet cafe, you can leave the option disabled, and keep your account secure.

I'd much rather simply have a drop down box to select a character to switch to than logging out and waiting to reconnect.

This sounds like more laziness. There's no problem with logging to switch characters.

agreed. It takes like 10seconds to switch chars and I have no idea why people would have problems with that. It's so simple I don't even notice it, I just log, type PW then switch. No real effort whatsoever. If you have been switching chars for that long, I really don't think it should be noticable.

So being lazy and waiting to save time is a negative thing?

Then why are we all on computers? *Gasp!* they save a lot of time as well by pretty much running the whole world!

Anyways this has been suggested before, and it is a ok idea. But I think the logout and log back in again is ok.

But next time use the search function or check the forum sticky.

All they need do is make it so when you click "log out" or "exit" or which ever button is it in your menu bar.

It takes you back to your character selection instead of all the way out.

as already stated, it doesn't do this due to security issues for people on a public computer. If you want this to happen on your personal computer, read the post directly above yours on how to make it happen.

I swear people dont read anything past the first post anymore.

I guess not all of us have the ability to type our password (no matter how complex) in 2 seconds.

It's simple really, either learn how to type, or use the shortcut.
